Promises from God's Word....

So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.
Isaiah 41:10

The LORD your God is with you, the Mighty Warrior who saves. He will take great delight in you; in his love he will no longer rebuke you, but will rejoice over you with singing."
Zephaniah 3:17

Even to your old age and gray hairs I am he, I am he who will sustain you. I have made you and I will carry you; I will sustain you and I will rescue you.
Isaiah 46:4

I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you; I will remove from you your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh.
Ezekiel 36:26

No one will be able to stand against you all the days of your life. As I was with Moses, so I will be with you; I will never leave you nor forsake you.
Joshua 1:5

When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze.
Isaiah 43:2

Hearing From the Lord

For I am with you, says the Lord.

I am calling you out to me,

I am calling you and inviting you to draw near to me,

Rise up,

Awaken with the morning

I will speak to you,

I will share with you,

I am getting ready to do something in your midst

You will not see it or understand it

Unless you take time to come

Come near

I am the One who calls you

I will be with you.

Dear Church,

I would like to know why some people are saying you are "sleeping"?

Are you out on a nap, a break, or heavily induced in a coma from which you can't be awakened?

You see, I agree that in many ways the "church" is asleep. With all the things going on in our world, and especially against us, it seems we are like a Giant, lost in a distant land.

Oh, but I would disagree in some ways that the "church" is sleeping, dozing away, and having quiet time.

I'd say the church is busy negotiating. Or, should I say, re-negotiating. We don't know if what we used to believe stands true anymore. So, we busy our time going over what we've been preaching, because, well, you know, you have to be careful what you say now.

I'd say the church is busy compromising. We're busy changing our welcome signs in order to be politically correct. We would much rather be at peace with humanity than with our Creator.

I'd say the church is not sleeping but wide awake and reading what's going on, keeping tabs on the news, the aliens, the ufos, the chip implant, martial law and rumors of wars. Yet, with all this stuff people are reading and writing about, how many are praying, really praying?

I'd say the church is busy celebrating people, embracing this celebrity lifestyle and becoming like everyone else. We hear the alarm going off and we are ignoring it. We are not praying.

Starting with me, I am not crying out to God as I should. We should be praying for the Lord to guide and show us what to do. We should be praying for the Lord to save people. We should be praying for God to ignite His people and let the real church, the body of Christ be alive and walking on this Earth, being a light and not a stumbling block.

People look at us and don't know who we are. Too many have been hurt with our corrupt conduct, our constant lies, our living holy one minute and living full out in sin the next minute. Too many people think we're full of it and they are right. We like to talk a lot but we don't live up to what we say is true. We have one life inside the church and another life at work and in front of our friends. We talk about people in church and the people around us. We gossip. We steal. We lie. We destroy others with our words. We condemn without cause. We do. Yes, church. We do.

So, sleeping or not, what are you going to do church? Are you going to get up and walk towards making a change?

It is time to put aside the attention on the media and the things that come to take your focus. It is time to pray. It is time to seek the Lord. It is time to read and really read and study God's word. It is time to cry out to the Lord and really get to know Him. It is time to seek and say, "Lord, thy will be done." It is time.

That is what I will write about next time.
It is time.....

By Angeline M Duran Santiago

I've spent the past few days wanting, really wanting to sit down and write, about something, anything.
Maybe about out trip to attempt apple and pumpkin picking or maybe about how I can finally celebrate that the air conditioner is taking a rest in my home, or I don't know, I think I just needed to write about something.

Then, I got to thinking that I was just too tired in my brain and didn't want to write nonsense. Yes, I know, sometimes the agendas and focus issues around me can get me going at times, and boy have we had lots of stuff happening around us lately, but even as I was either moved to joy or sadness about the issues in public or in my private life, I just didn't have the energy to sit down and write something that at the end of it all would somehow bless someone.

So, tonight, although I'm sort of out of it- and who wouldn't- after working and coming home to rush through the remaining hours- only to prep for one more day of school or work, yeah, tomorrow, but for tonight, I just decided to write something, and at the same time, nothing down. So, here goes.

If I am going to write anything then it will be a loud reminder that through the tiredness and feeling terribly run down before the day is over, God is still our strength and our hope. Yep, there it is! That's what I wanted to say. God is going to get you and me through one more day, but it doesn't have to just feel like one more day. It can be a happy day if we will take the time throughout the day to find the moment in our super hectic life to think about His goodness towards us. I mean, hey, if you can't take a minute to meditate on one verse or passage of scripture about the One who is going to give you the strength and life to keep going, then that's a big issue and maybe a blog topic to write about.

But, we can, and we should, so I will, and you should also. Yeah, how did that all come out? But, yes, we can take and make the time and the effort to spend time seeking our help, our encouragement and our direction from the Lord. After all, without him, we are going to fall into a big mess. So, what I wanted to say was maybe just keep trusting the Lord, don't give up and keep hoping for a miracle even when your life is falling apart. I will not surrender my hopes or walk away from the promises I've read in Scripture. I hope you don't either.

I truly hope you hold on to them even in greater measure when life gets really hard, I mean, so hard you cry, you hurt, and you feel alone. God is there, but don't go at it alone. Take time to open your heart to His word and you will hear his voice, as you wait for the train, while you ride on the bus, as you walk to work with your headphones on, when the red light tells you stop and you put the breaks on the car and yes, even when you're washing dishes and putting dinner on the table.

He's a God that shows up when we need it and when God knows we are ready for Him to show up. Well, I hope I was able to give you something to think about and nothing to worry about. God loves you and I do, too.

********What You Do To Me*******

Pick me up,
Don't push me down.
Hold me up
Don't let me fall.

Cheer me on,
Don't stand in my way.
Celebrate with you
Don't walk away.

Join me
Don't try to take my place.
Learn with me,
Don't work to remove me.

Love me.
But, love me for real.
Help me.
If your love's the real deal.

Protect me
When others speak against me
Surround me
Instead of joining in their deeds.

Embrace me
Instead of pushing me away
Acknowledge me
Instead of looking the other way.

Be my friend always
Not just when you need a favor
Be a real friend
Even if it means we stand alone- together.

Encourage me when I am seeking the Lord
Pray with me, Rejoice with me
Don't pretend to be for me
And then speak about me when I am gone.

You call me brother, You call me sister
You call me friend, You call me family
You act like you hate me
You are dishonest
With your words, you kill me.

You sing high praises
You lead the choir
You teach Sunday School
You preach each week

You push the faithful and mistreat them
Til they end up back on the streets.

You say you love me, I say you speak lies
Christ will soon return for his people
For some of us, we're running out of time.

Ever seen it? Ever heard about it?
I have.
I've seen it, lived it, and seen it destroy in so many ways.

Christians against Christians.
One makes a comment and another one comes out of their face as if there's something to defend. Wasn't that brother just making a comment? It's like they feel they were born with the purpose of correcting, instructing and shutting down anyone they deem a threat to their position or popularity in church.

Christians against Christians.
We get jealous. We become envious. We gossip and back talk the brother and sister in the Lord, the one who we sing with about getting ready to see the face of God.

Christians against Christians.
We shut people down if they're not like us.
We stand in their way if we wish we could do what they're doing but don't have the same grace, the same favor or anointing. We try to imitate them and take their place, pushing them aside and then going around like we're blessed, we're filled and we're called to do what we're doing.

Christians against Christians.
I guess it's the easiest way to keep the devil out of the way. We don't have any reason to blame him because the believers are doing the destruction all on their own. You see, instead of imitating Christ, we imitate the world. Instead of loving like God asks us to , we love the way the world does- with limits and conditions, with selfish motives, with our groups and false hugs.

Christians against Christians.
We embrace the agendas of this world because God is Love and of course God would never be anything less. So, we water down the Gospel, we talk about love and not sin, and we accept everything and anything so that we can be accepted and loved by everyone, even if it means putting the message of the Gospel to the side.

Christians against Christians
Getting ready to argue and fight for a cause and an agenda God has not called us to defend. We talk for others when no one has asked us to talk for them. We want to do for God but never do what God has asked us to do. We want to love everyone, every religion, every walk of life, every new movement and every lifestyle but we don't love our brethren in the Lord. We are ready to throw down with those who stand at the Cross with us and pray with us.

We criticize, we reject people, we work with great passion to destroy their ministry and calling. We laugh and humiliate people who rise up to be bold for the Lord. We say, "Crazy!" and "Stupid" to people who go into the streets to preach and share God's message. We take the ideas people bring to the table during a meeting, make it our own by crossing out their name, and then push them either back to sit down on the pews, or push them out the doors because in reality, they're just not our "fit" of "Style" for the church so they gotta go.

We behave like the church is a social club, like a golf club that only the elite can buy their way in. We treat Christian preachers with differences if they pat us on the back when we hide our garbage and sin behind the pulpit. So, we treat some preachers like GOD and we treat other preachers like yesterday's news, unwanted and outdated. We look for ways to get into politics so that we can be socially correct and socially accepted, but never really interested in being correct and accepted by the One who sent His Son to die for us on that cross.

Well, by now you either are upset with me, or you agree that Christians need to stop fighting Christians. God doesn't want us fighting, complaining, bickering, being gossipers and envious. God doesn't want us being a two-face, back stabbers and liars. Please, stop the lies. Stop always being on the defensive- It always ain't about you.

Stop making it personal and your mission to bring Christians down when you're supposedly one of them. Stop acting like God sent you to say something when there is nothing Godly in your message. If it don't go with His Word, keep it to yourself. So, it's up to you, what will you do?
Will Christians keep attacking and beating down believers or will we stand side by side, holding hands and praise the Lord, work to build His kingdom and love, truly love!

It's up to you.
As for me,
I just don't want to see it anymore....
Christians against Christians.

By Tito Santiago
"I long for passionate, unashamed male worshippers to arise that will express and represent the warrior within and the God of war that lives."
-Tito Santiago,

I saw this up today and if you know me, well, if you do, that's right, it seemed a great blog idea- So, here it is.

It's as if I could hear the call coming forth from this message and challenging those that are on the front lines with their musical instruments and voices, their instruments of praise and worship, to use them to do more than just sing a pretty song. I could sense the urgency from this message to rise up and write about more than just God's love, but to incite this generation to know about God's power, God's promises and that He is with us through thick and thin.

The songs being written are hard to get into sometimes. I remember writers like Ron Kenoly that once incited a generation to come before God, challenging us to look up in the Scriptures what he was singing about and realizing, "Yes, I can dance for the Lord! Yes, I can make war in the heavenlies! Yes, God is a mighty God!"

The LORD is a warrior;
the LORD is his name.
Exodus 15:3

I love nothing more than to be able to listen to the drums calling me out on to the dance floor to move in praise and declaration of the Mighty God I serve. Songs that inspire me to move in a way that shows my God as a God that has given me victory over the enemy, and has prepared my hands to war, and has equipped me for the battle make it easy to break forth in prayer no matter where I am.

Perhaps this generation has gotten too many lullubies about heaven. That's awesome to have, but oh, to have the truths that transform. I believe we need more songs like the words from the Book of Psalms. We need songs that take God's promises and remind us that we are not alone and God is a God that answers prayer.

You will not have to fight this battle.
Take up your positions:
Stand firm and see the deliverance the Lord will give you,
Judah and Jerusalem.
Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.
God out to face them tomorrow,
and the LORD will be with you."
2 Chronicles 20:17

In my days of youth, I remember writing songs as if one day I'd have the opportunity to perform them. They were my prayers and my confessions before the Lord. They were my declarations of my faith and that I would always trust in Him. They came during times spent seeking the Lord. Where are those who will seek God's presence for a fresh word?

Rise up, men of God, and write a new song on to the Lord. Take us beyond the fairy tale, beyond the lifting of hands to feel the rain of heaven, and beyond the cry of our heart. Take us to the Cross where Life fought against Death and prevailed. Take us to the grave where Darkness had to bow before God's Presence. Take us to the promises of a King that is coming for His Bride. Take us to a God that will fight for His people until the very end. Take us to a place of worship that says, "No matter what may come my way, I will not be moved because my foundation is Jesus and no one else."

Here this, you kings!
Listen, you rulers!
I, even I, will sing to the LORD;
I will praise the LORD,
the God of Israel, in song.
Judges 5:3

Well, maybe I blew up Tito's message and made a big deal out of it but I just agreed a little too much. Sometimes, no, most of the time, I turn on the Christian and Gospel Radio Stations and I can't listen on for long. The DJs play non-stop slow songs that all sound the same and although they are beautiful and inspirational, I want to worship and dance unto the Most High.

So, are you ready to write? Get ready, set, and go forth!
May the Lord inspire you to write for this generation that is being told about a one world order. May you write songs for those who have been imprisoned for their faith in God. May you write songs for this generation that will be told there is no God and the Bible is a false. May you write songs to awaken the warriors to pray, to fast, to weep before the Lord and to speak under God's anointing and power.
Write away!

In that day they will say,
"Surely this is our God;
we trusted in Him, and he saved us.
This is the LORD,
We trusted in him;
let us rejoice and be glad
in his salvation."
Isaiah 25:9

I know you're tired. I mean, really tired and maybe even at times you wonder, "Should I give up?" I know you're exhausted because I feel like that many times. But, then again, you need to understand that if we look at who we are, there's a reason things don't always happen right away, or at least I will attempt to explain it that way.

We're soldiers in an Army of Faith Warriors. We're soldiers in a Battalion that is always under fire, always. We're soldiers in a battle that has been going on for years and we live so many times forgetting that although the world sees the normal person we are each day, in the spiritual realm, yes- in the spiritual world, our Enemy sees our true colors, our battle clothes, the ripped fatigues, the Armor of God, and who we really are- sealed by God's Spirit.

So, I know you're tired. You are on the battle field even when you think you're resting. We may not have weapons like the armies of this world arm themselves to aim at their enemies, but our weapons are our prayers, our praise, our worship, our love towards our enemies and the faith and heart that says, "Do not give up!"

I know you're tired of the same prayers. "God heal my son." "God set me free!" "God change my life!" "Lord, restore my marriage." "Father, make yourself real to my children." "Lord, touch my parent's heart." "God, restore my health." "Father, fill me with more of You!" "Dear God, show me your ways and open the doors to a new job." "Lord, I can't take this anymore. I hate so much and you have to work in my situation."

The list goes on and on. You are exhausted of waiting and believing.

I'll share that I was like this also until I decided to just thank the Lord in the midst of my waiting. I decided to commit my life to Him with greater passion even when my prayers were not being answered. I chose to worship and praise Him as I waited for healing and restoration. I chose to feed upon His Words as I pushed through the battle grounds and faced the enemies that rise against me and my family.

I like these verses and know that they will speak to your heart this day also:

And shall not God avenge his own elect, which cry day and night unto him, though he will bear long with them?
Luke 18:7

Now this is the confidence we have before Him, Whenever we ask anything according to His will, He hears us.
1 John 5:14

(His will is to heal us, to fill us, to restore us, to bless us)

But, thou O Lord, art a shield for me; my glory, and the lifter of mine head. I cried unto the Lord with my voice, and he heard me out of his holy hill. Selah. I laid me down and slept; I awaked; for the Lord sustained me. I will not be afriad of ten thousands of people, that have set themselves against me round about.
Psalms 3:3-6

Oh, I love Psalm 3 because it's like I can see myself in the pit, in the trenches, in the battlefield crying out to God and I am reminded that HE IS a SHIELD around me. He lifts my head when I am downcast and feel like I am losing my courage.

Lord, today I come before you unashamed to say that I have felt overwhelmed and stressed out in many areas of my life. I know that when I surrender these areas in my life, you take my cares and give me peace. My arms, my neck, my mind and my legs are tired of pushing through, crawling on the floor of this battlefield called life. I rise in the midst of it all and choose to praise you and thank you for your help, for the answered prayer, for healing, and for your mighty presence.

Lord, I choose to hold on to your promises for they are true. Lord, I find my hope and my strength in you this day. I rise knowing you are around me, in front of me and all around me helping me face the problems that come. Use those things in my life that come to destroy me to strengthen my faith. Lord, I place every burden, every exhaustion of my mind, every discouragement, I place them at the cross in Jesus name and I choose to continue to press onward until you come for your people. Amen.

By Angeline M Duran Santiago

Funny how the moment we decide to listen to God's call and get our lives back in line with God's Word, we get the Enemy's attention.

Ezra Chapters 4 through 8New International Version (NIV)

Opposition to the Rebuilding:

When the enemies of Judah and Benjamin heard that the exiles were building a temple for the Lord, the God of Israel, they came to Zerubbabel and to the heads of the families and said, “Let us help you build because, like you, we seek your God and have been sacrificing to him since the time of Esarhaddon king of Assyria, who brought us here.”

God's people paid attention to the message about building this temple for the Lord and the Enemy decided he'd join them and help them build this temple. Funny. Can you envision this? When has darkness had partnership with light? But, here they are not only offering but getting offended because God's children say, "Absolutely, nope. No way, Jose. It's not going to happen."
And, of course, because the Enemies were nothing less than "enemies set out to do wrong against God's people" they go from showing up and wanting to "help" build God's temple, to interfering, meddling, confusing, planting lies and confusion, breeding fear and frustration. Wow!! And did they start off by saying they wanted to help? Imagine how that would have looked like? I guess the reason they were so intent on helping was because although here in this Scripture they're talking about a literal temple for God, a building, I believe the Enemies, and the Enemy of our souls today, saw back then what God desired when it came to having us build a temple for the Lord in our hearts. The enemy knew that the temple had been destroyed.

Standing against the Opposition:
Our lives had been a mess, right? I know mine was and in many moments has seemed like an abandoned lot, a building that is falling apart, filled with memories I wish would disappear and a house that is destroyed. That house, our heart, the condition of our heart, I believe, has always been God's desire when he would always remind them to rebuild a place for his habitation. And this is why the Enemy got so angry. You see if the Enemy can get involved in helping us restore our HOUSE for the LORD, then he will make sure it remains unfinished, broken, and not fit for a Holy God.

The enemy launches a campaign against God's children
Letters get sent out to all the leaders to alert and warn them that these rebellious children of God are rebuilding their city, They are restoring the walls and repairing the foundations.
Their main complaint is that God's people are rebuilding, restoring and repairing. The moment we decide to rebuild our faith, our foundation, our families and our lives, the enemy will go up in an uproar. The reason is simple. Now, we won't stop there but we will restore what has been lost, broken and not going right. When someone is rebuilding, they break the ground to set a new foundation so that their structure will not come crashing down.

Do Not Stop Rebuilding:
In the sense of this house being our lives, we rebuild and restore by returning to deep times of surrender and seeking the Lord, reading and letting God's Word fill our lives and taking time to pray and truly come before God and believe Him for a change. The Enemy complained that they were restoring the walls and repairing the foundations. As we repair the walls, the Enemy cannot and will not be able to infiltrate because the walls are strong and covered by God. This is why I believe the Enemy was upset. The entrance for the Enemies of God were not being closed, on lock down, no access zone and of course, with a "STAY OUT" sign.
The enemy's attempt to stop us from being whole may seem to come to a stop when we face diverse situations, trials, and the questions, "Is this really from God what you are doing? Are you sure you should serve God?" and so many other questions to stop you from building, restoring and repairing your life before God's presence. The enemy will point out so many reasons to make you stop and walk away. He will sound so convincing.
The accusers are silenced and made to not only leave the Jews alone but provide for their needs. What does this mean for you and me? If you have made a decision to serve God and rebuild your life, your house, your heart for His presence, opposition will arise against you but God has already provided for your protection and your survival through it all.

Restore the House called Your Heart:
Build your life anew. Build those walls to protect your city. Build a strong foundation that is laid with God's word. Restore those walls with God's Word and Promises written all over them. God is with you to see you through the times of healing you are going through. God is with you to comfort you as you go through withdrawal from addictions and habits that once tore your house down. God is building with you as you restore your marriage, your communication with your husband or wife, as you rebuild your relationship with your children and your family, and as you begin anew your jobs, return to school, or begin something new.

Build again. Renew. Restore. Rebuild. Repair.
Lift up those walls in the Name of our God.
The Book of Ezra is a great source of encouragement. I'd like you to read it since I can't write about all the great things that happened in this story. But, I have tried to share the most important parts that I thought you needed to read about. God wants us to look at our broken lives, our forgotten and abandoned lives, the mess we are without him and how we are open to the Enemy when our foundation and our walls are not set with the promises and truth of God's Word. It is time to arise, take your place and begin to rebuild and restore your home. God not only wants our hearts, but he wants every area of our lives, including our families. He wants families that build together and that are strong together because the Enemy can raise lies, accusations and make up stories against God's children, but God will always have His eyes on us and help us through the hard times.

Blessings my friends and family. Until next time, God bless.

Poem By Angeline M Duran Santiago

When he comes, and he will,
he will come to bring confusion and lead you astray.
When he comes, fear and torment are his sidekicks
and he comes with his bags filled with tools of destruction.

When he comes, he comes against you and never for you,
he comes to defeat, to discourage, to disarm you,
to catch you when you're not watching,
To tempt you, deceive you, entice you
and destroy your dreams,
to break your beautiful plans,
to plant fear and desperation in your heart.

When he comes, he hands grip at your throat,
his fingers curl around your heart,
To convince you are nothing and never good enough
When he comes, he rarely comes alone,
Hunger, Pain, Sickness, Depression, and Brokenness are present
make you fall and keep falling into sin.

When he comes, he comes letting you know he represent darkness
and there is no light in him, never will be, never can be.
When he comes, his delight and joy is to imprison you
He rejoices to keep you bound in lies, sadness and poverty of spirit.
he, he, with a lower case h comes to wrap you in a web that holds you until
He, He who I will gladly write with an uppercase H, a capital letter H,

When HE comes, He shows up to destroy the work of darkness.
When HE comes, He comes to set the captives free,
He comes and commands fear and depression to be gone, immediately!
He, HE who created all that my eyes can see comes and commands
every work of darkness to be broken and speaks life to the deadness in your life.

When HE comes, He breaths into your life and all things are new
When HE comes, He brings light, joy, organizing and restoring your life,
He begins to speak YES and AMEN to every dream,
every hope and desire to do greatness.
When HE shows up, the other one,
the one who can only claim to rule in darkness,
Well, he has to go.

Satan cannot abide in Yahweh's presence.
Satan cannot remain where God has shown up with all HIS power and might!
Darkness has to let go, get it's grip off of you
Run, leave, disappear and stay away!

HE is greater, more wonderful and more powerful.
If the enemy of your soul has shown up then open the door to the Lord of Hosts
Open your heart and let the King of Glory
rise up and enter into the home of your heart.
When HE comes, everything changes.
There are blessings, joy, strength and so much more.
But, you won't know until you command darkness
to leave and invite God into your life.

What Am I doing?

Ever feel like you're just working away, from early in the morning until late at night, unceasingly busy in your daily job and then onward to responsibilities in your life with your family or other obligations? Ever fell like you give until your last ounce of energy and still, there is nothing to show for all your hard labor?

What about putting in extra hours only to see only a few pennies extra on that pack check and you're like, "Didn't I work ten hours over time? Where is it?" The money just seems to not give or stretch no matter how early you rise to put in extra time or how much later you agree to stay until, the pay just seems to slip away in such a way that you can't even put a few dollars into savings sometimes.

What about this scenario: Some people enjoy the fine lifestyle, good dining and the joy of purchasing name brand clothing, fancy cosmetics, an amazing car and jewelry beyond what most people can ever hope to have- and still, it is not enough. Some people like this, keep buying, keep attaining, but they are never pleased or satisfied because the minute someone they are jealous of buys the newest makeup collection, the latest shoes, or the next great gadget, they must have it, and in only a few days, it's pushed to the curb along with their other toys.

You have and get and have and get but it is not enough. We place our energy and focus on everything else but rarely do most things succeed because of one thing. We are building ourselves up, constructing our personal kingdoms and our intimate worlds where the only one worthy of praise and recognition is, you got it, US.

Haggai Chapter One has these words:
Now this is what the Lord Almighty says: “Give careful thought to your ways. You have planted much, but harvested little. You eat, but never have enough. You drink, but never have your fill. You put on clothes, but are not warm. You earn wages, only to put them in a purse with holes in it.”

Does this sound like you and me? Today as I read this scripture, I felt the overwhelming reality that I have been extremely busy with life, with work, with trying to make ends meet and providing for my needs, my home, mine. And while all that is what it should be and it's all great, it's when we get to the point where we lose ourselves in that battle to do it all that we lose the battle in understanding what really matters the most.

Imagine earning money and it just falls out of the holes in our pockets? This scripture is saying, literally, that's what is happening and then it tells us why.

Haggai Chapter One goes on to say this:
This is what the Lord Almighty says: “Give careful thought to your ways. Go up into the mountains and bring down timber and build my house, so that I may take pleasure in it and be honored,” says the Lord. “You expected much, but see, it turned out to be little. What you brought home, I blew away. Why?” declares the Lord Almighty. “Because of my house, which remains a ruin, while each of you is busy with your own house.

Wow! Lord, I've been busy, you're right, with my own agendas for a very long time. My busyness has kept me not only away from your house, but without time to pursue your presence and follow after your call in my life. My tiredness at times has been excuse to put things off, yet, I still come up with time to fulfill so many other things that add up to such little importance. I guess the part of Haggai chapter One that hit me today the most was this part here:

10 Therefore, because of you the heavens have withheld their dew and the earth its crops. 11 I called for a drought on the fields and the mountains, on the grain, the new wine, the olive oil and everything else the ground produces, on people and livestock, and on all the labor of your hands.

Because of me....ME.

Because I have chosen to give greater attention and passion to my personal agendas and schedules, I've put aside the Lord's agenda. Because I have worked to please others, I've put pleasing God as second choice. Because I have labored with all my might and strength in the ways of this world to build and empower my own life, my home, me and mine, I have put God's ways on the back burner giving Him my spare tires, my tiny moments before bedtime, my quick prayers on the bus, and my yawning worship as I make coffee each morning. Because, because, because.

In the Wrong House:

Yet, it is my lifestyle that has gained me nothing that has caused the blessings to cease. The drought, the dry times, the joy, the blessings and the anointing have been put on hold because I have not taken the time to go up the mountain, time of prayer and intercession, time before the Lord even if it is hard to go up, up, climbing and reaching to the top, but taking time to go up and fill my life, my spirit and my mind with God's word and presence. It is only then that I will find the "timber" or what I need, as God supplies every need, to go back down into my super busy life and build the house for God in my own home, in my heart and in my life.

The victory and the blessings will come when I return to the old ways of not being afraid of the mountains that appear before us in our journey as Christians. We will come upon the mountains, but God tells us to come up to the mountain because then he will provide us the wood for us to build his home.

13 Then Haggai, the Lord’s messenger, gave this message of the Lord to the people: “I am with you,” declares the Lord.

I am with you. What a statement. First he tells us not only that we're spending our time and effort on building the wrong house or kingdom, he corrects us and instructs us on what to build and how to go about it. Next, he explains that because we've been investing ourselves in what doesn't matter, this is why our prayers have seem unanswered and our blessings far away. But, being who He is, he ends at least this part saying, "OK, now you know what needs to get done, get started, and oh, yeah, by the way, I am with you. and then like a P.S. at the end of a letter, it says, declares the Lord.

Yup, so we know it is coming from the Lord himself. Like, get it together. No big deal. I am not going to stand here and keep talking about the same issue over and over. You have been giving your all to the wrong cause, you get what I am saying? Now, start again and this time, not alone, not on your own. This time, not in your own strength and in your own understanding and reasoning. This time, I am with you. This time I will lead you. This time I will guide and bless the work of your hands.

In the Right House:

The promises keep coming and coming and coming. And that is what I want for myself, my kids, my husband, my parents, my brothers and their families, my family that is far away and those that don't know the Lord yet, and YES, I want it for my friends and those faithful few who dare to venture and give time to the words I place on this blog.

There are many things coming our way and if you continue to read the book of Haggai you will hear the Lord saying, "Do not fear. Press on. Trust me. You are not alone. I will be with you from the beginning to the very end."

I pray you will renew your commitment to build God's kingdom in your midst and in your life. I pray the Lord will help us as we begin to focus on what truly matters, His plan for our lives, and not ours.  Until next time, God bless.
